Parking spaces with honor system parking meters

The Driessen Beach Park has a few notable merits, including a long list of parking options, a boardwalk to the beach and a family-friendly beach scene. It also has a couple of interesting quirks.

While the parking lot has a number of paid parking spaces, the most cost-effective solution for the hors d’oeuvres crowd is to park your vehicle in the adjacent free lot. Other options include a few short-term metered parking spots and a few metered spaces on Burkes Beach Road. Alternatively, you can hop on board a complimentary shuttle from any of the island’s many golf courses. A few other beach related amenities are also worth considering, including seasonal lifeguards and a small playground.

Several parks and public spaces on the island are free to park in, but those that require paying the price are few and far between. For instance, Burkes Beach Road has just 13 metered parking spaces, while Alder Lane boasts a respectable 23. On the other hand, Coligny Beach is located right across the street in a free public parking lot.
